The 9th Environmental Weekend concluded with a new activity we absolutely loved: an interpretive walk from the Erasmus Park of Sotillo to La Estanca.
A group of 30 of us set off from Plaza de España. Most of us were walking, but there were also a couple of bikers and, of course, the yayacletas, who today were giving Resu, Maricruz, her mother, and María Martín a ride.
People have continued to join us in El Sotillo. We've shared the story of the Erasmus Park, the elms we planted in 2019, the pergola (Fernando Peralta Nature Classroom), and the insect tables and hotels that were set up.
Several members of Muérdago (especially Víctor Huete, Maialen, Remiro, and Rafa Sánchez) have been telling us about the species they were seeing. They were particularly intrigued, for example, by the discovery of an entire field of ainzón trees.
Once at La Estanca, they were amazed by the amount of water, the lush vegetation, the swans (with five chicks), the grebes... It took us two hours to walk around the entire property, but we didn't mind and enjoyed every comment and explanation.
Once at Villa María, there were more and more plants, groups of people gathered here and there, discovering different corners of the property: greenhouse, terrace, vegetable garden, shed, grills... The meal consisted of chanterelle mushrooms and asparagus in broth (delicious, Maria!), pork loin with peppers (cooked by the Carretilla gardener), fruit salad, cherries, and braided vegetables. Then, coffee and liqueurs.
It was a wonderful day of nature and intergenerational interaction: children, teenagers, adults, grandparents...
