December 28th
Today’s event was full of pleasant surprises. First we went to pick up the individuals at their homes: Maricruz and her mother, Luis, Segura, Resu, María Martín and her daughter Virginia. Then, to the residence. We were supposed to make several trips but most of the residents turned us down. Only Chus and Tomás were encouraged.
Once at the Youth Centre we had a coffee and went up to the room to watch the presentation and the videos. We paid tribute to and applauded all the pilots, especially the ten who made the vast majority of the trips.
We finished the event with “3 days drawing smiles”, the short documentary starring María Martín and financed by the General Directorate of Transport and Sustainable Mobility of the Government of Navarra / Nafarroako Gobernua.
Afterwards, several pilots told their experiences with the yayacletas and what the elderly bring to them. Chus, a regular on our walks who was accompanied by her daughters today, told us about her feelings and how delighted she is to be able to go out on a tricycle. Six Erasmus students brought youth and freshness to the event.
Héctor Vallés, a pilot from Castejon from EBSE Tudela who also participated in the video, attended the event with his family and commented on his experience. We ended with a snack in the best company.
In short, an intergenerational event of brotherhood between pilots, older people, their families and Erasmus students. Let’s continue!
